We checked 13 independent shops across Bromley borough, from Beckenham Bookshop to Holwood Farm, for gifts and opening hours. Updated November 2026.

Bromley borough has 13 independent shops worth a Christmas trip in 2026, and this guide puts them in one place with addresses, opening hours and what each sells. Beckenham High Street and Chislehurst have the most choice close together, from Beckenham Bookshop, Bunka and Just Williams Toys to Wrattens. Entries were checked on 5 November 2026, against each shop’s own site unless we say otherwise.

We have not visited these shops for this guide and nothing here is a review. Hours are the shops’ normal published hours, and several may change them in December, so ring before making a special journey. Three dates are worth knowing: Chislehurst Christmas Market on Sunday 22 November, Small Business Saturday on 5 December, and the Charter Market in Bromley, which trades daily from 10 to 24 December.

Bromley town centre and the markets

We did not find an independent gift shop in Bromley town centre whose details we could check, so none is listed above. The Glades is the main shopping centre, normally open Monday to Saturday 9am to 7pm and Sunday 11am to 5pm. Its seasonal All the Trimmings Christmas shop is back this year, run by Everything Hunky Dory and selling decorations and Christmas essentials.

The Bromley Christmas markets guide has every market date by date, including the Charter Market, which trades daily from 10 to 24 December, 9am to 5pm, and the Chislehurst Christmas Market on 22 November. Small Business Saturday falls on 5 December.

How we chose

These are independent shops selling things people buy as Christmas presents, chosen on what could be checked rather than on taste. Details come from each shop’s own website, read on 5 November 2026, and where a site could not be read we have named the source used instead: the Visit Chislehurst and Orpington 1st directories, the Thatsup listings site or the trade press. We left out shops whose current trading we could not confirm. We have not been to any of them for this guide.
