Victoria (for the West End, and the fastest run)

This is the headline route. Southeastern runs a dense service all day, with the fastest trains at 18 minutes and a typical journey of around 29 minutes depending on stopping pattern (Southeastern). Off-peak the pattern is up to eight trains an hour, three of them non-stop (service pattern).

Blackfriars, Farringdon and St Pancras (Thameslink, for the City)

Separate from the Victoria service, Thameslink runs from Bromley South via Catford to Blackfriars, with direct journeys from about 23 minutes (Trainline). Off-peak that is two trains an hour; in the peaks many continue through the City core, calling at City Thameslink, Farringdon and St Pancras International, with St Pancras reached in about 45 minutes (Trainline).

What it means for you: if your office is near Blackfriars or Farringdon, this route saves a Tube change. The through-core trains thin out badly off-peak, so check your specific train rather than assuming it runs beyond Blackfriars.

Bromley North (for the Charing Cross line)

Bromley North has no direct London trains: it is a Southeastern shuttle to Grove Park, about five minutes each way with roughly 42 trains a day (Trainline), where you change for Charing Cross line services; Grove Park to Charing Cross takes about 22 minutes at its fastest (Trainline). It suits people at the north end of town who want London Bridge, Waterloo East or Charing Cross without crossing to Bromley South first.

From Bromley South, the first departure on the Victoria route is around 04:49 on weekdays and Saturdays and the last around 00:04 (Southeastern). Coming home, the last train from Victoria to Bromley South usually leaves around 00:01 (Trainline), which makes Bromley one of the few commuter towns where a night out in town does not end at half past ten.

What commuting costs in 2026: contactless vs season ticket

Both Bromley stations take Oyster and contactless: Bromley South is in fare zone 5, Bromley North in zone 4 (TfL). That gives commuters two genuinely different ways to pay, and the right one depends on how often you travel.
