Last Christmas, Bromley South lost its Victoria trains from 27 to 31 Dec and the last train on Christmas Eve left at 21.27. 2026 plans are due in November.

The rail operators have not yet published their Christmas 2026 plans for Bromley. Last year’s are the best guide to what to expect. Southeastern ran no trains on Christmas Day or Boxing Day. From 27 to 31 December it ran no trains to or from London Victoria, which is Bromley South’s main line into town, and Thameslink trains through Bromley South were replaced by buses. The last direct train home to Bromley South on Christmas Eve 2025 left Victoria at 21.27.

The quick answer

  • No trains on Christmas Day, on any operator. National Rail says Boxing Day will have a very limited service from a small number of operators only; Southeastern ran none last year.
  • Christmas 2025: no Southeastern trains at Victoria from 27 to 31 December, and buses replaced trains between Lewisham and Orpington via Grove Park from 1 to 4 January.
  • 2026 plans: not yet published. Southeastern announced last year’s on 17 November 2025. National Rail says operators’ details will be added from the beginning of October.

What Christmas 2025 looked like for Bromley stations

Southeastern ran a revised timetable from Saturday 20 December 2025 to Sunday 4 January 2026. Its Christmas and New Year services page still carries last year’s day-by-day plan. The lines that matter for Bromley are summarised below.

Southeastern’s announcement on 17 November 2025 said Network Rail used the Victoria closure for power and signalling upgrades and to replace worn rails.

Thameslink was hit on the same days. From Saturday 27 to Wednesday 31 December 2025 there were no Thameslink trains between London Blackfriars and Bellingham. Replacement buses ran between London Bridge and Bromley South via Bellingham, and rail tickets were accepted on local buses, trams and the Underground (Network Rail, 19 November 2025).

Southern ran Beckenham Junction trains only between Tulse Hill and Beckenham Junction on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 January, according to the same Network Rail release.

Off-peak fares applied all day on 29, 30 and 31 December, except for Travelcards and journeys wholly within the London Travelcard area.

Last trains home on Christmas Eve 2025

Southeastern published a last trains on Christmas Eve table listing the last direct trains from each London terminal. These were the Bromley borough stations:

Trains from Charing Cross called at Waterloo East 3 minutes later and London Bridge 9 minutes later. The 2026 table will be different, because Christmas Eve falls on a Thursday this year.

Buses and driving

Last Christmas, TfL ran no service on most of London’s public transport on Christmas Day. Buses ran a Sunday service on Boxing Day, and apart from planned closures services ran all night on New Year’s Eve, according to Transport for London’s 2 December 2025 announcement. TfL warned that Christmas Eve services would finish early. The ULEZ, which covers most of Greater London, applied as normal on every day except Christmas Day.

For parking, the council’s holiday parking arrangements for last Christmas were:

  • Christmas Day 2025: council car parks, on-street pay bays and permit bays were all free, and restrictions were lifted.
  • Boxing Day and New Year’s Day: on-street pay bays were free. Car park charges and permit bay restrictions applied as normal.

New Year’s Eve

Last year Southeastern ran extra trains after midnight on New Year’s Eve from Charing Cross, Cannon Street and London Bridge, and closed Waterloo East from 23:45. Victoria had no Southeastern trains that night because of the engineering work.

Still to be confirmed

  • Southeastern’s Christmas 2026 engineering works and timetable. Expected in mid-November, going by last year’s 17 November announcement. National Rail says operators’ details go up from October.
  • Christmas Eve 2026 last trains. The table normally comes with the Christmas timetable.
  • TfL bus arrangements and the council’s 2026 parking rules. TfL announced last year’s on 2 December.
