HMRC has petitioned to wind up the company behind Kaizen at The Glades, Bromley. The High Court hears it on 7 October; the restaurant is still listed as open.

HM Revenue and Customs has asked the High Court to wind up the company that runs Kaizen, the pan-Asian restaurant in The Glades. The petition will be heard on Wednesday 7 October.

A petition is not a closure. The company can pay, settle or oppose it, and the court decides at the hearing. As of Sunday 27 September, The Glades still lists Kaizen with opening hours seven days a week.

What the Gazette notice says

The notice was published in The London Gazette on 25 September (notice 5216440). It records:

  • the company: M C S C Restaurants Limited, company number 13679291, of Unit A3/3 Queen’s Garden, The Glades Shopping Centre, Bromley BR1 1DN
  • the petitioner: the Commissioners for HM Revenue and Customs, “claiming to be Creditors of the Company”
  • when it was presented: 12 August 2026
  • the case: High Court of Justice, Chancery Division, Companies Court, CR-2026-006277 of 2026
  • the hearing: 10.30am on 7 October 2026 at the Rolls Building, Fetter Lane, London
  • the deadline to take part: anyone who wants to support or oppose the petition must give notice to HMRC’s solicitor by 4pm on 6 October

The notice does not say how much HMRC says it is owed.

Why this is Kaizen

Kaizen’s own terms and conditions name its operator. “Kaizen is operated by M C S C Restaurants Limited, Unit 3.3 Queen’s Garden, The Glades, Bromley”, the page says, and it gives the same company number, 13679291 (Kaizen, terms and conditions).

The Glades describes Kaizen as a pan-Asian restaurant on the Lower Mall at Queen’s Gardens. Its store page lists opening from noon every day, closing between 9pm and 10.30pm (The Glades, Kaizen).

Hygiene is not in question. The Food Standards Agency rated Kaizen Restaurant 5, the top score, at its last inspection on 5 August 2025 (FSA food hygiene rating).

What the company’s accounts show

The Companies House record fills in the background (M C S C Restaurants Ltd, filing history).

  • The company was incorporated on 14 October 2021 and is registered as a licensed restaurant.
  • It moved its registered office from 63-64 High Street, Bromley, to the Glades unit on 12 March 2025.
  • It has twice had a first Gazette notice for compulsory strike-off while its accounts were overdue, in July 2024 and December 2025. Both actions were discontinued after the missing accounts were filed.
  • Its latest accounts, for the year to 31 October 2024, were filed on 1 July 2026.

Those accounts show a company owing more than it holds. At 31 October 2024 it owed £290,647 to creditors due within one year, up from £231,480 a year earlier. Its net liabilities were £208,197, up from £150,242. It had £22,863 in the bank.

Most of what it owed, £207,089, is listed as “other creditors”. The accounts do not break that figure down, so they do not show how much of it, if any, was owed to HMRC. Director loans of £52,385 appear for the first time in 2024.

What happens at the hearing

A creditor can petition when it is owed £750 or more and can show the company cannot pay, according to GOV.UK’s guide to winding up a company. If the petition succeeds, the court issues a winding-up order and puts an official receiver in charge of the liquidation. The receiver then turns the company’s assets into money to pay its debts.

What it means for you

  • Kaizen is still trading as far as the public record shows. Nothing published by the restaurant or The Glades says it is closing.
  • If you have a booking or a voucher, there is no reason on the record to cancel it. We will check the outcome of the 7 October hearing and report it.
  • If the company owes you money, you can ask to be heard at the hearing. You must tell HMRC’s solicitor by 4pm on 6 October, following the instructions in the Gazette notice.
