A day nursery, a mortgage broker on East Street and three software firms are among 20 companies registered in Bromley in a fortnight. A builder and a flooring shop are being wound up.

Twenty new companies with a registered office in Bromley’s BR1 and BR2 postcodes were formed between 10 and 24 September, according to Companies House. In the same fortnight the Gazette recorded liquidators appointed to a Bromley builder and an Orpington flooring shop, and a winding-up resolution at a development company trading from Locksbottom.

This roundup lists company names and what each says it does. It gives a postcode district rather than an address, because many new companies are registered at the founder’s home; business centres are named where the register uses one.

Closing: three insolvencies and one solvent wind-up

  • Tusk Construction Limited, Southborough Road, Bromley, a builder of domestic buildings formed in October 2013, entered creditors’ voluntary liquidation on 14 September (The Gazette, notice 5215264; Companies House, 08713848).
  • Giant Floors Limited, trading as Trendy Flooring from Halo Business Park, Cray Avenue, Orpington, a carpet and floor covering retailer formed in April 2012, had liquidators appointed on 11 September (The Gazette, notice 5210990).
  • Clapham Developments London Ltd, formed in February 2011 with its principal trading address at Starts Close, Locksbottom, passed resolutions for winding up, published on 18 September (The Gazette, notice 5212725).
  • N 3 A Ltd, a pharmacy business with its registered office in Chislehurst and its trading address in Ilford, is in a members’ voluntary liquidation, which is a solvent closure chosen by the owners rather than an insolvency (The Gazette, notice 5210753).

A liquidation notice records what the register says on the date given. It is not a finding against any individual, and a company can be closed for many reasons.

Grouped by the activity codes the founders chose, seven are trades, food or services businesses, five are property or holding companies, three are software or IT firms, three are in childcare, education or wellbeing, and two are in mortgages or finance. Four of the twenty are registered at serviced offices on Elmfield Park or Elmfield Road, which is where a lot of Bromley’s new paperwork lives.

What it means for you

  • A new company is a registration, not an opening. Several of these will never trade. The ones to watch for on the high street are the day nursery, the food business in BR1 and the mortgage broker on East Street.
