Free blood pressure checks at St Mark's Church Hall, Bromley, on Monday 7 December, 2pm to 3pm, with results explained on the spot and a little singing.

People in Bromley can have their blood pressure checked for free at St Mark’s Church Hall on Westmoreland Road on Monday 7 December, from 2pm to 3pm, and have the reading explained to them there and then.

The hour is run by Medising, which runs a programme called Singing for Hypertension, in collaboration with the leisure trust MyTime Active. As the name suggests, there will be some singing too.

“This event is an opportunity for local people to have their blood pressure checked in a friendly, community setting and to find out more about our Community Blood Pressure Tool,” Nicola Wydenbach, Medising’s director, told Bromley Online. “It is a free event, no appointment is needed and results of the tests are explained at the time.”

What happens on the day

The event’s flyer sets out three parts to the afternoon: have your blood pressure checked; find out more about hypertension, the medical name for high blood pressure, and how to manage it; and “enjoy some refreshments and a little singing!” The invitation is to “a friendly community event to learn more about blood pressure and how to look after your heart”, and the flyer adds that “singing can support relaxation and wellbeing”.

It is billed as “Check your blood pressure, Learn, Sing”, and the flyer ends: “Everyone welcome!”
