Bromley AI Club launches at Crofton Halls, Orpington, on 26 November, 5pm to 7pm, with live demos and hands-on activities for £10. Checked November 2026.

A new community group, Bromley AI Club, holds its first event at Crofton Halls in Orpington on Thursday 26 November, a £10 evening from 5pm to 7pm for people who want to try AI and learn where it goes wrong.

The launch is called Think with AI, and the club is pitching it at beginners. “Curious about AI but unsure what to trust or how it fits into everyday life?” it asks in its announcement, describing “a friendly, interactive evening exploring what AI can do, where it gets things wrong, and how to make your own judgements.”

Everyone is welcome, the club says, “including students, older residents and local business owners”. No technical experience is needed. Its flyer sums up the night as “Try AI for yourself, see what it can do, and learn how to spot the fakes.”

Bright pink and yellow flyer headed Bromley AI Club, AI is for everyone in Bromley, giving Thursday 26 November 2026, 5pm to 7pm, Crofton Halls, York Rise, Orpington BR6 8PR, £10 entry, and a list of topics including AI slop, deepfakes and AI impact on jobs

What happens on the night

The running order on the club’s ticket page is:

  • 5pm: welcome and networking, with tea or coffee
  • 5.15pm: an introduction to the club, why it is starting and how to get involved
  • 5.25pm: AI fundamentals, a “simple, jargon-free introduction” to what AI and generative AI are, what tools like ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are, and what AI can and cannot do
  • 5.40pm: live demonstrations covering everyday life, business and work, and education and careers, including improving a CV and preparing for an interview
  • 6.05pm: “Your Turn!”, guided activities such as using AI to write an email or plan something, with help on hand
  • 6.25pm: Ask Anything, open questions and discussion
  • 6.45pm: ideas for future events, and how to volunteer or contribute
  • 6.55pm: what comes next

The demonstrations include a section called “Can You Spot a Scam?”, on how AI can be used to create convincing scam messages and misleading content and how to protect yourself. The flyer’s topic list also takes in the difference between “intelligence vs rule-based” systems, AI slop, deepfakes and the impact on jobs.

The question and answer session invites anyone “worried about AI scams, privacy or how technology might affect your job”. The page adds: “No question is too basic!”

Who is behind it

The club describes itself as a local group for anyone who lives, works or spends time in Bromley and the wider BR postcodes, “whether you’re 15 or 85”. Its pitch is “No jargon, no hype, no fear. Just neighbours figuring it out together.”

Its site says it wants to run talks and beginner workshops in plain English, and demo nights where members share what they are building. The ticket page says “regular monthly meetups, practical workshops, member showcases and community discussions” are planned. The club is also asking for speakers, volunteers and venues.

It explains the entry charge in its FAQ: “Crofton Halls is a hired venue. The £10 ticket pays for the room, and for tea and coffee on the night, so we can put the launch on without a sponsor. It is the entry price for this first event, not a membership fee.”
